Moving Rules Down in a Filter

The order of rules in a filter is important because the PortMaster evaluates the rules in the order in which they are numbered. You move rules down in a filter to change the order in which rules are applied. When you move rules down in the filter, those rules are applied after subsequent rules are applied.

To move rules down in a filter, follow these steps:

1. If you haven't done so, read filters from a source.
   

2. From the Source pulldown list, select a PortMaster product on which a filter resides.
   
3. From the Filter list, select the filter in which you want to change the rule order.
   
4. From the Rule Type list, select a rule type.
   
5. From the rule list, select one or more filter rules in continuous order.
   
6. Click Move Down as many times necessary.
