LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES SHIPS NEW ISDN OFFICE ROUTER AP, REDUCES LIST PRICE ON ENTIRE OFFICE ROUTER LINE

The InterNetworking Systems of Lucent Technologies is now shipping a new version of its popular Office Router product line, addressing the needs of small businesses, remote offices, and telecommuters. The new ISDN Office Router AP features an analog port which allows traditional analog devices such as telephones, modems, and fax machines to communicate over an ISDN line--helping simplify and consolidate small office communications while reducing the cost of separate access lines. In conjunction with the release of this new Office Router, Lucent has reduced the list price on the entire Office Router product line.

The new ISDN Office Router AP includes an ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) port, one analog phone port, and an asynchronous serial port that can provide InterNetworking Systems and serve as a back-up to the ISDN line. The product supports an unlimited number of Ethernet LAN users and includes advanced routing features, Stac LZS and MS-Stac data compression, and built-in firewall security. The product also features a graphical install wizard for fast and easy ISDN and router configuration. All Office Routers run Lucent's Internet-proven ComOS® operating system in use by over 2,000 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) worldwide.

Lucent's ISDN Office Router AP allows users to consolidate all small office telephony devices over a single ISDN BRI line, eliminating the need for a separate phone and fax line. This is especially advantageous to small office users who often need to talk on the phone or send faxes while simultaneously browsing the web or performing file transfers.

In conjunction with this product announcement, Lucent is also lowering the price of each product in the Office Router family, making them even more attractive for small businesses and telecommuters who need optimum bandwidth and reliable Internet access at a minimum cost.

"Lucent is taking another step in simplifying and lowering the cost of Internet and remote network access," says Eric Launder, Product Manager for Lucent. "The Office Router family is a favorite among ISPs to deploy to their business customers because of the product's ease of use, rock-solid reliability, and full-featured routing capabilities. The ISDN Office Router AP provides this same core functionality while allowing users to get more out of their ISDN line."
