		             (February 12, 1998)

INTRODUCTION

Livingston RADIUS NT 2.01b12 is available for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
server or workstation.

RADIUS NT 2.01b12 FEATURES

RADIUS NT 2.01b12 includes the following features:

1. SecurID

SecurID version 2.3 for NT 4.0 is now supported in this beta version
    of RADIUS NT.

2. ODBC Support

In addition to the text format, Accounting records can now be logged
via the ODBC database. In order to view the accounting log in ODBC
    database, use the Microsoft Query.

The ODBC database is also used in place of the DAO database for clients
    and users caching.

In order for Livingston RADIUS NT to work properly, the latest
Microsoft Data Access Components 1.5 must be used. This package
includes the updated ODBC administration drivers (version 3.50.33.8) and
can be downloaded from Microsoft web site (http://www.microsoft.com/data).
Look for the link that says "Download the Microsoft Data Access
Component 1.5 Release". The link will guide you to download
mdac_nts.exe or mdac_ntw.exe for Windows NT Server or Windows NT
    workstation respectively.

3. Auth-Type = Reject

This feature is used when you want to disable a user profile without
deleting the record in the users file.

4. If the User Cache option is not selected, the Updated User Cache
button on the RADIUS panel will be grayed out.

5. The RADIUS log file is now logged the number of clients that are being
cache when starting the RADIUS service.

RADIUS NT 2.01b12 INSTALLATION

In order for Livingston RADIUS NT to run properly, you must have Service
Pack 3 for NT installed on the NT server or workstation.

If you have a previous Livingston RADIUS NT software version installed
on your NT server or workstation, before installing RADIUS 2.01b12,
you must uninstall the previous Livingston RADIUS NT version.

The uninstall program of RADIUS 2.0.1b12 now removes the radius.mdb correctly.
The RADIUS NT 2.0.1b12 install program will overwrite the existing
radsvc.ini file so it will be up-to-date. The radius.mdb file is located
in C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\raddb and the radsvc.ini is located
in C:\Winnt directories.

In order to install and run RADIUS NT 2.01b12, you must login to your
NT server or workstation as an Administrator with the following
User Rights:

* Act as part of the operating system
*  Increase quotas
* Replace a process level token

If the above User Rights are not configured for the Administrator
account, when starting the RADIUS service, a popup window will
display the required User Rights before RADIUS service can be started.

panel.

CAVEATS

1. The uninstall program only removes files from the default directory,
C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\raddb. If you run RADIUS in a different
location, then you must remove those files manually when you install
a new version of RADIUS NT.

2. RADIUS NT 2.0.1 conforms to the NT convention in terms of case
insensitive for usernames and case sensitive for passwords. In this
respect, if you have an entry in the users file that uses local password,
in order for a user to authenticate, the username must be entered
exactly the same case in the users file. However,
if an entry in the users file has Auth-Type = System as a check item,
then this user can be authenticated whether or not he uses the
uppercase or lowercase for his username.
