BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON!!!

Remove the 2 screws on the back and remove the cover. Make sure all the
cards are properly seated. The 2 serial port cards have a tendancy to POP
OUT!! Now is a good time to set the jumpers for AUI or BNC. See the FAQ for
their settings. (ftp://ftp.ams.com/pub/livingston/PM11-FAQ.txt)

1. Get a terminal or a PC with term software. Set it to 9600-N-8-1

2. Get a null modem cable. Make sure it has pin 8 and not pin 6 jumpered to
20. Most null modem cables have 6 to 20 jumpered. Portmasters assume a modem
is going to be connected so they look at pin 8 (CD).

	DB25-F DB25-F
	2	-	3
	3	-	2
	4	-	5
	5	-	4
	7	-	7
	8	-	20
	20	-	8

3. Connect it to port S0, (not P0, thats a parallel port) and turn on the unit.

4. The diskette drive should spin. After 30 secs you should see "login:"

5. Login as "!root". Yes that is a "!" in front of "root". There should be
no password on a "fresh" one.

6. Type the following commands after you've logged in:

	set telnet 23
	set broadcast high
set address <the address you are going to assign it: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>
	set namesvc dns
set nameserver <your nameserver address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>
	set domain <your domain name>
set netmask <your netmask: default is 255.255.255.0>
	save all
	reboot

7. Connect a 10 base 2 connector to the unit. if you need to switch to AUI,
see the faq. There are jumpers INSIDE you must change.

8. The unit should be pingable and telnettable now.

9. Get PMCONSOLE and finish configuration.

10. Download the PM2 manuals from Livingston (http://www.livingston.com) or
	AMS, Inc (http://www.ams.com)

Happy PPP'ing.
