Racin, Rockin', & Rollin'You'd have thought you were in the middle of the Tour de France on Saturday, July 12th, when hundreds of cyclists in their colorful team jerseys gathered in front of Livingston's Pleasanton, California, headquarters to participate in the first annual Livingston Criterium bicycle race. Organized by the Livingston-sponsored Valley Spokesmen Racing Team and sanctioned by the United States Cycling Federation, the criterium was an all-day event consisting of 11 separate races, each race lasting 45 minutes to an hour. Halfway through the final race of the day, featuring the top-category riders, Stan Terusaki of the Livingston Race Team broke away with a small group of other cyclists and powered his way to the finish line, giving Team Livingston the win!
Another highlight of the day was the racing series for children aged 8 to 14 in which every junior rider received a ribbon and a prize.
Both participants and spectators praised the event for its organization, good prizes, exciting racing, and entertainment provided by the Livingston Blues Band led by Bob Knight (Engineering) and supported by Tim Skelton (Manufacturing). The Valley Spokesmen Racing Team is one of the top club teams competing in Northern California. The Livingston jersey has finished in the top 15 places over 200 times!
