PortMaster 3 Wins Networking Industry Product of the Year Award

Livingston's PortMaster 3 Integrated Access Server won the InterNetworking Systems Product of the Year Award at the Networking Industry Awards dinner held in Birmingham, England on June 24. The event was part of the three-day Networks '97 show held at the National Exhibition Center. Emap Computing's independent judging panel chose the PortMaster 3 from a record number of entries in this fourth year of annual competition.

Trophy

"It's especially gratifying to receive this recognition from the industry, based in part on the loyalty of our clients, expressed in their testimonials on the PortMaster 3's behalf," said Juergen Obermann, Managing Director Livingston EMEA. "We thank them all for their whole-hearted support of Livingston and its PortMaster products."

"Internet in Ecuador at its best"

AccessInterNet unabashedly bills itself as "Internet in Ecuador at its best" and has been using Livingston's PortMaster 2E, IRXTM, and Office Router products for more than two years. "We prefer Livingston equipment for its ease of use and configuration," says Fabrizio Aquaviva, General Manager of AccessInterNet. "We standardized on Livingston thanks to the great reliability we have experienced with Livingston products and the excellent support from our local Livingston Representative, CyberCom."

AccessInterNet is also now providing Livingston Office Routers free of charge as part of its service to corporate customers. "This is a 'win-win' solution," reports R. Bruce Schulte, General Manager of CyberCom. "The customer has a turnkey solution without having to invest in equipment, and the ISP is assured of a reliable, standard router at the customer site."

AccessInterNet is partly owned and operated by El Comercio, the largest newspaper in Quito, Ecuador's capital city. Hundreds of thousands of Ecuadoreans, including many who live abroad, rely daily on El Comercio and AccessInterNet for news and information. In the next few months, AccessInterNet will begin using Livingston's PortMaster 3s to take full advantage of the latest digital technologies and 56Kbps transmission.

Asia-Pacific Roadshows

Livingston recently conducted two roadshows in the Pacific Rim. Activities included the launch of the PortMaster 3 in Australia, a Livingston speaking engagement at Internet World Hong Kong/China '97, and a preview of the new commercial RADIUS server to large and enthusiastic audiences in Australia, Hong Kong and Japan. The Livingston team made a special series of presentations to the Internet Service Provider Associations of South Australia (in Adelaide), Western Australia (in Perth), and the Australian Capital Territory (in Canberra). Additional seminar stops on the tour were Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Thanks to the Livingston team consisting of David Coulson, Manuela Hoehn, John Robarge and Carl Rigney -- and to our local channel partners -- both roadshows were a great success.
