V.34 Fax Server Appliances

Multi-Tech Device Manager
The FaxFinder family of V.34 fax server appliances allows you to
receive faxes wherever you are as e-mails and send faxes from any application
that can print. The FaxFinder family provides distributed faxing capabilities,
over a WAN, from a corporate office to small remote offices as well as to field
sales people. In addition, they provide secure, convenient faxing for LAN users
offering a high degree of privacy for both the sender and recipient. The
FaxFinder is available in a 1-port model for connecting directly to an analog
port of a T1/PRI equipped PBX, or in a 2-port model utilizing Direct Inward
Dialing (DID).

The FaxFinder product consists of four upgradeable parts:
- The FaxFinder Client software which runs on a user’s Windows XP / 2000 / NT machine.
- The Multi-Tech Device Manager software which runs on a user’s Windows XP / 2000 / NT machine.
- The FaxFinder Server firmware that implements the fax server
functionality of the Fax Finder.
- The modem or channel firmware on the modems or channels in the
FaxFinder server.
- The
FF100 has one MT5634SMI
POTS modem module.
- The
FF200 has two MT5634SMI
POTS modem modules.
- The
FF110 has two modems in it. One is a MT5634ZBA-DID modem connected to the DID port for inbound faxing and the other is a loop-start
inbound / outbound fax port modem module – referred to in the software as a
POTS modem and they take different firmware.

Multi-Tech Device Manager Version 1.05.08
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a maintenance release of the FaxFinder Manager. With this
release we changed the name from FaxFinder Manager to Multi-Tech Device
Manager. We also changed the install location. You should uninstall
the previous version of FaxFinder Manager before you install this version.
This version will force an uninstall of the FaxFinder Manager before you can
install the Multi-Tech Device Manager.
FaxFinder Manager Version 1.05
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a maintenance release of the FaxFinder Manager. You may install
version 1.05 over the previous version by selecting upgrade when the
install is executed.
Important note: Although it is not necessary, if you want to uninstall version 1.04 of the
FF-Manager, before upgrading to version 1.05. You must uninstall the
FaxFinder Client FIRST. If the FF-Manager version 1.04 is uninstalled it
will corrupt the FaxFinder Client registry information. With version 1.05
of the FF-Manager, this registry problem is fixed.
To Uninstall FF-Manager version 1.04
- Uninstall the FaxFinder Client (it will require a re-boot)
- Uninstall the FF-Manager
- Install either FF-Manager 1.05 or the FaxFinder Client.
New
Features and Changes
Bug
Fixes
- When restoring a config file if the Server's admin login is used, instead
of the admin login saved in the config file.
- When restoring a config file to a server with a different IP Address than
the IP Address of the config file, you could not restore with an older version
config file.
- Synchronize phone books did not work when don directly after a firmware
update. This is because the config file was converted after the
update, and the in memory config file version was not updated.
- If the FF-Manager is uninstalled the registry information for the
FaxFinder Client can be corrupted. See important note above.
Known
Problems
FaxFinder Manager Version 1.04
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the first revision of the FaxFinder Manager. It replaces Update
functionality in the FaxFinder Client Application.
New
Features and Changes
- Moved the Update capability of the FaxFinder Client to this application.
- Added Phone Book Sharing so Phone books could be copied from one FaxFinder
Server to another.
- Added the ability to Save and Restore configurations of a FaxFinder
Server.
- Added the ability to enter a domain name for a FaxFinder Server as well as
entering it by IP Address.
Known
Problems
- When using the Restore feature to Restore a configuration file. If
the saved admin uid and password are different than the server uid and
password, the web page will converted to the "old" uid and
password.
- Workaround: make sure the userid and password of the server matches the
userid and password of the config file. It can be edited in a text
editor to ensure this.
- When restoring a config file to a server with a different IP Address than
the IP Address of the config file, you may not restore with an older config
file.
- Workaround: Restore the config file to the server with the same IP as
the config file. Save the restored config file. Then restore
this converted config file to the server you originally wanted to
update.
- When upgrading an FF100 version 1.01 or FF110 version 1.02 to version
1.03, a second reboot is required in order to use the Synchronize PhoneBooks
option from the FaxFinder/CallFinder manager. This is because the FaxFinder
Server will incorrectly report the configuration file version of the newly update
PRIMARY FaxFinder as version 6 when it in reality is version 8. The second
reboot causes the FaxFinder Server to read the converted configuration file,
and the correct configuration file version (version 8).
