Multi-Tech iSMS SF100 - SMS Server Appliance CONTENTS -------- - Upgrade the Firmware - Revision History - Technical Support - Copyrights and Trademarks UPGRADE FIRMWARE: ----------------- ****************************************************************************************** WARNING: The firmware upgrade should be done locally on the same LAN that the iSMS is on, DO NOT do the upgrade remotely through the Internet. During the firmware upgrade, the webadmin will return back to the main login page early while the iSMS is performing the firmware upgrade. Please DO NOT turn off the iSMS until the status LED goes off, on and blinks again. ******************************************************************************************* 1) Power up the iSMS and wait for the Status LED to start blinking. 2) Bring up a workstation browser and enter the IP address of the iSMS product (default is: http://192.168.2.1). 3) Login as admin and enter the admin password (default password is admin). 4) Increase the Web timeout before doing the upgrade by clicking the Administration button on the top and Admin Access on the left. Under Web Interface Inactivity Timeout set the Time Before Automatic Disconnect to be the maximum of 3600 seconds. 5) Click the Utilities button on the top. 6) Export(save) a back-up of the iSMS configuration before performing the firmware upgrade. 7) Click the Firmware Upgrade option on the left. 8) Click the Browse button and select the firmware bin file. (Make sure you unzip the firmware in order to get the BIN file). 9) Click the Upgrade button. 10) BE PATIENT, the upgrade process takes a minimum of 5 minutes when performing upgrade via the local LAN. 11) After upgrade is complete, the program will return to the main login screen (see WARNING above). 12) Login and check the firmware version number on the main screen to make sure it shows the new firmware version number. 13) Verify that the configuration settings are what you expect them to be. Note: If the firmware upgrade fails or it does not show the webadmin login page again, wait for another 5 minutes. Then power off and on the iSMS and webadmin to the iSMS to check the version. If the version does not show the latest, then the upgrade did not go through successfully. Try to perform the firmware upgrade again by repeating all the steps above. Note: If you wish to reset the iSMS to factory defaults after upgrading the firmware, the iSMS can be reset using a paperclip to access the reset button on the back panel of the chassis. Press the reset button until the status LED stops blinking. They can be set to be the same port. - SIM phone number can be left blank. - Changed the default WEB inactivity timeout from 120 secs to 600 secs. This is done to allow Import CSV to happen successfully without getting interrupted with inactivity timeout. - Improved Address Book CSV File validation. Pop-up window with error is displayed and CSV is not imported if the following conditions are not met: 1) Every entry should have atleast 1 comma 2) Name and phone number fields cannot be empty or only spaces.
