Using Windows 2000 RRAS with MultiTech ISDN BRI Products

Modem ports with the original 2.10V1 or older modem firmware can run into a problem
where RRAS and the modem get out of sync with one another. RRAS may think it is waiting
for a response to an AT command while the modem is on-line sending PPP data to RRAS (which
RRAS sees as garbage). After some time in this out-of-sync condition RRAS will disable
the modem port. Currently the most reliable way around this is to store S0=0 in the modem
ports. However, this requires newer 2.10V1 modem firmware.

1) Flash in the new 2.10V1 modem firmware

2) Once the new 2.10V1 modem firmware is flashed in, check to make sure it is the correct
   version by using a terminal package such as HyperTerminal (or if in DOS use MultiTech's
   ISITERM) and communicate with the modem port with the new firmware. Type "ATI" (without
   the quotes). The response string should include "S0 storable test" or "V6/V3 fix".
   If so, then this is the correct firmware and it can store S0.

3) Type the following command to store S0=0:
   ATS0=0&W

4) If there are other modem ports that need to have this change made, then repeat steps
   1 through 3 as needed.
