4-22-98 MACFLASH.TXT Flashpro.exe should be used to flash boot code to a MT2834LT(b) for the Apple operating system's PCMCIA use. Flashpro is a DOS application that should be used with a DOS based machine. Emulation of DOS in an Apple system is not recommended. Multi-Tech is not responsible if such a process is tried. Here are some tips you may want to know if working with this: The files: What it's for: FUNC_ID.ZIP Boot code for 1.x firmware. BT17_29.ZIP Boot code for DOS based computer use. (The modem can be flashed back to the DOS based boot code.) FL12_30.HEX Boot code for 0.x firmware When you flash the modem you must use a -m switch with Flashpro.exe. If you don't use the switch the modem will keep it's original boot code. The way to confirm the boot code in this modem is to type AT*Fi. The response should be the boot code revision number. Note the names above. If the modem result is 17.29 the DOS boot code is stored. IF the result is 17.30 the modem boot code is the Apple boot code. Flashpro.exe revision 2.03 was used with this flash. When you are done flashing the boot code it is a good idea to flash the modem firmware after. There is no special Apple firmware. The boot code is what matters. Please note that this boot code is only for this particular modem (MT2834LTb), this won't work with any other modem (5634ZLX , 1432LT etc.). Note: The modem may be used with a terminal in the DOS based computer after the modem has been flashed to the Apple boot code for testing.
