SETTING UP SECURITY ON THE MR4800E CONTROLLER Things needed to setup security, 1. The latest version of the MultiCommManager. 2. the latest version of the MR4800E controller firmware. Setup 1. With the management software, create defined modem group(s) on the remote IP(mr4800e), and put the modems into the group(s). Make sure to set the inventory on the modem(s) to inbound, outbound, or both. 2. Create a temporary directory on the PC you are running the management software. Then copy "DBMAIN.EXE" from the directory you installed the software into to the temporary directory you have created. 3. Then FTP "MR4800.GP" from the controller to the temporary directory. 4. Next, run DBMAIN.EXE from the temporary directory and create the users needed for your database and save the database file. 5. Then ftp the saved database file to the controller into the A:\mmm directory. 6. Next, go into the software, highlight the remote site(IP). Go to setup, security, database file, and activate the security DB file you just FTPed. 7. The only thing left is to make sure the modems have been configured (load configuration) either with the MCM software or with the configure command on the controller. 8. Adding new entries to the database would require adding the entries on the PC, deleting the .DB file on the controller, then FTPing the new database(.DB) over to the controller, and into the A:\mmm directory. Known Limitations: 1. Valid times in account period doesn't work.
