How to setup VPN failover: prerequisites: - must have DDNS account using www.dyndns.org - must have dual wan internet connections - must have RF850/860 firmware vs 3.31 and above or RF820/830 firmware vs 1.20 and above - must use DDNS and FQDN for all locations that are setup with VPN How to configure Routefinder with Dual WAN internet connections (Routefinder running 3.31 firmware and RF830 running 1.20 firmware): -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) configure load balancing on the two WAN links 2) setup DDNS for each of the WAN link and each of the WAN link must have its own unique FQDN name. This is require regardless if the WAN link is static IP or dynamic IP. 3) enable DDNS failover 4) configure the VPN tunnel and select local WAN IP = WAN1 or WAN2. When configure remote gateway IP, it must specify the remote gateway using FQDN. 5) enable VPN Failover required when configure and setup individual VPN tunnel How to configure remote Routefinder with one WAN link : ------------------------------------------------------- 1) setup DDNS and assign FQDN for the WAN link 2) configure VPN tunnel and select remote gateway IP using FQDN only. Specify the remote FQDN based on step 4 above, the remote FQDN must matched the WAN link that is specified in step 4.
