Multi-Tech RF102S Serial Router CONTENTS ----------------- - Install RF102S software - Uninstall RF102S software - Upgrade Firmware - Revision History - Technical Support - Copyright and Trademarks INSTALL / UPGRADE RF102S SOFTWARE: ------------------------------------------------------------- Note: If you have an older version of the RF102S, you must uninstall it before installing the new version. The uninstall directions follow this section. 1. Download the latest software from ftp.multitech.com or Run Setup.exe from the CD that included with your Router. 2. If you are installing the software for the first time, you might want to run the Setup Wizard. 3. If you are Upgrading the software, select Cancel when prompted to run the Setup Wizard. 4. Click the RouteFinder Manager icon to configure the RF102S. 5. Click the RouteFinder Monitor icon to monitor traffic on the RF102S. UNINSTALL RF102S SOFTWARE: ------------------------------------------------ 1. In Windows, go to the Control Panel. 2. Click on Add/Remove Programs. 3. Highlight the "RouteFinder Manager xxx" entry. 4. Click the Add/Remove button. 5. Remove the folder "C:\Program Files\Multi-Tech Systems\RouteFinder Manager x.xx" UPGRADE FIRMWARE: ---------------------------------- If you have just downloaded the firmware, then copy the new firmware into the C:\Program Files\Multi-Tech Systems\RouteFinder Manager x.xx directory: 1. Make sure the latest RF102S software is installed. 2. Bring up the RouteFinder Manager. 3. Select the Available Device (i.e RF102S). 4. Click on the Upgrade Firmware button. 5. Make sure the Firmware File Version shows the version of firmware you want to upgrade. 6. Click the Upgrade button. This will take a few minutes to complete. 7. Click OK when the Upgrade is successful. If the upgrade returns an error message, exit out of the Manager software, power off and on the RF102S box, and repreat these steps starting with Step 2. 8. Click the Save & Exit button. 9. Click Yes to Restart. 10. Press the reset button on the back of the RF102S and hold it for a few seconds. This will put everything back to the factory defaults with the new upgraded firmware. 11. Run the Manager or the Wizard to reconfigure the RF102S according to your ISP service. 12. Verify whether the firmware upgraded properly by running the RouteFinder Manager. Select the Available Device, check at the top of the screen to make sure the proper version number for the firmware is displayed. If it is not the right one, power off and on your RF102S and repeat Steps 2 through 11. REVISION HISTORY: ------------------------------ Firmware Version 4.61: ------------------------------- - Fixed the dialup scripting problem. - Updated the telnet interface to be the same as 4.48. - Fixed the MLPPP problem. After one link drops, it will now reconnect when there are demands. Firmware Version 4.58: ------------------------------- - Fixed the idle timeout not hanging up -- a problem that occurred when using the Async port. - Fixed the PPP connect problem that occurred when calling some ISPs. - Fixed the LCP NAK packet length error. - Fixed the Rlogin protocol problem. - Fixed the problem that occurred when entering more than six entries in the pass filter list. - Fixed problem that occurred when settin up a virtual server using port zero (DMZ). It had to do with compatiablity issues between Installshield and Windows. Software Version 7.29: ------------------------------- New Installshield results in a much bigger file size. Wizard Program: - Fixed the problem with the Back button. Manager Program: - Fixed some misspelling errors. - Fixed a problem that occurred when entering more than six entries in the pass filter list. - Include new firmware V4.58. Monitor Program: - Fixed intrusions display problem for the Async port. - Fixed the Status Tab so it displays the proper status for the Wan Ethernet and Wan Async ports.
